Week 3: Action Steps
1. Produce an Income: Offer a Strategic Sponsorship Area. Add an HTML gadget on your side bar and give it the title, "Sponsors." Learn How to add Side-by-Side Buttons here. Why add a Sponsor Area? Your side bar is prime realestate. One way you can help to financially support your blog is by asking for Sponsors. Sponsors will pay a small fee to have their button advertised on your blog for one month. This will require you to have a free Pay Pal account, so you can send them an email invoice. 2. Produce an Income: Write a Sponsorship Post. Your future sponsors need to know details. Write a post or page entitled, "Advertise". Include the following information: Become a Partner (with a Contact Form), Who we want (who do you want to represent?), About us (list your stats so potential sponsors know up front what they are getting), Cost (List your package options clearly with price; people don't want to waste time requesting prices). See my Advertise Post. Place your Advertise Page at the top of your website (or in an easy-to-find page link on your sidebar).
3. Produce an Income: Keep your Sponsorship area neat. Cluttered blogs are not a pleasure, and not a place readers want to remain. Keep your blog neat by grouping sponsor buttons and grouping favorite buttons. Or, you could add a Link List Gadget and entitle it "Favorites" instead.
4. Produce an Income: Add Strategic and neat Adds only when Best for your Readers. Adds are an option to consider when you acheive high traffic to your site. If you want to monetize your blog through a pay per click service, many bloggers have used Google Ad Sense. What it does is read your article and places relevant ads next to your article. You can add a Monetize Gadget at your Blogger design page, but it's not always best to clutter up your blog with tons of adds. Consider adding only one or two strategic add areas. Think of ads as connecting a reader need with an advertiser's product. Important! Make sure you are writing for your readers and not for the advertisers. In the end, your readers will love you for having their best interest at heart.
5. Produce an Income: Donations. Another option to produce an income is to add a Pay Pal Donation Request Button at the bottom of your free tutorial, printable, DIY (do it yourself) articles, etc. If the post was helpful, readers can give a small donation, such as $1, as a thank you for your service.
6. Get your Site Reader-Worthy: Add a free Contact Form. Wouldn't you agree that when you want to contact a website, you love when they have a form to send your question or request immediately. This saves your readers tons of time. You can view my CONTACT FORM to get ideas on what to include. Create your own FREE CONTACT FORM. Add this free embedded form to your Contact Page at the top of your blog.
7. Produce High Volumes of Traffic: Blog Directory. You can register your blog and submit articles at popular Blog Directories. Try adding your blog to three new blog registers this week. I like these Family Zip, Picket Fence Blogs, and E-zine Articles. When submitting an article, give these directories your very best work. Can you recommend another great Directory?
