Hello everyone. My name is Sona from http://sonishka.blogspot.com or Far and Away ;-) and this is my guest post about Blog traffic for Mommy's Blog Design Studio. I will try to keep it short and sweet but insightful at the same time.
I have had my blog for about a year and half now but I wasn’t really blogging until earlier this year. Ever since I started practicing the blogging guidelines, everything is different for my blog. Within not even 2 months it really came to life, my traffic is 4 times bigger than before and new followers keep coming in every day! Let me share some tips on how to generate and keep traffic on your blog as well.
HOW TO KEEP TRAFFIC COMING TO YOUR BLOG:
Creating a successful blog involves 3 important factors:
When creating a blog, you must figure out what is your blog’s purpose and what is it about (CONTENT - SEO) and what audience do you want to address (TRAFFIC). Especially if you plan to monetize your blog.
Building a great content makes your website more visible in search engines, hence it attracts more visitors and if your content is great, it will get you readers & comments = stable traffic.
Picking the right niche (topic) for your blog is crucial. It is those blogs that stand out of the crowd that have the biggest traffic.
The traffic of your blog depends on: frequent blogging , originality of your posts, scannable structure, quality of grammar, punctuation and spelling, readability -you are writing for humans, not just for SEO engines.
HOW TO BRING TRAFFIC TO YOUR BLOG:
Besides paying attention to production of high quality posts and their frequent publishing, you need to win your audience. To expose your blog to maximum, register with as many blog directories as you can. It is necessary for you to spend some time researching other blogs and find blogs with high number of visitors and comments. Here is a link where you can find blog directories: http://www.toprankblog.com/rss-blog-directories/
Great way how to generate more traffic is through guest blog posts. You can either write a guest post or someone else can write one for your blog. Check out for example MyGuestBlog.com. To achieve maximum exposure and benefits by guest blogging, make sure you write articles that are relevant to your niche or to that of your websites topic. Participate on blog hops, blog social and linky parties. Blog hops are designed for mingling and blog exposure. When visiting other bloggers through blog hops, make sure you leave a comment saying where you found them. Coming to other blog through a blog hop won’t show the name of your blog in their statistics but it will show the blog hop name only.
I have collected a list of blog hops I found while blog hopping and keep their banners on my blog. I always find new hops and linky parties through other bloggers.
Leaving comments on blogs with already established traffic will help you to get traffic to your blog as well. Make sure that you leave a good comment, spend some time at other peoples blogs. The chances they will follow back are higher if you show interest in their blog. Leaving comments is good for your google rankings as well. If you search for your blog in google, you will see that it shows also when and where you left a comment.
If you are hosted by Blogger/ Blogspot, set your comments to pop open in a new tab. Blogspot and Blogger always have some issues that disable visitors from leaving comments.
Creating a product, especially a free ones a great traffic generating tool. E-books, free downloads such as skins, templates, free tutorials, how to-s and DIYs will help you boost up the traffic. If you are a small business owner, create a free product, a sample of what you are selling to attract new customers.
If you have no idea how to create any of these or don’t own a small business, maybe you can write reviews of products and advise people about something.
Probably the easiest and cheapest way how to promote your blog is through social media. The more followers you get, the higher traffic for you. A good thing is that your friends and relatives can help you spread the word. Set up accounts with: Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Twellow, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon, SocialOopmh, Reddit, Make Money Blogging Marketing Forum, MyBlogLog.
You can also promote your blog for free through classifieds. They get incredible amount of people to click on these, so why not use it. Check out: Gumtree, Craigslist, Kijiji, Backpage.
Most blog platforms have RSS feeds built in, but don’t forget to add an email subscription, newsletters, follow me and blog lovin option as well. If you only offer RSS, you lose a huge opportunity for people to get your content and become regular readers.
I hope that this post was at least a little helpful to anyone. I would love to hear back from you to know how you are doing and to see your blogs as well. If you’ll visit my blog, please let me know you were there, so I can pay a visit back! Happy blogging everyone!
